Gurugram now hosts the Global AI Centre (GAIC), a landmark facility dedicated to bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI research and public-sector implementation. The centre will serve as the innovation engine for the ARJUN ecosystem.
Regulatory Sandbox
A primary function of the GAIC is to manage the state's AI Regulatory Sandbox. This allows verified startups, enterprise partners, and academic researchers to test AI applications in controlled environments using sanitized, anonymized state data. This sandbox approach ensures innovation is not stifled by premature regulation, while guaranteeing citizen safety and data sovereignty.
Global Partnerships Signed
The launch event saw the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with three leading international technology institutions:
- MIT Urban Lab: Collaborating on traffic flow optimization.
- Stanford AI Institute: Researching bias mitigation in public service models.
- Global Climate Data Coalition: Integrating open-source climate models into the HCASDP dashboard.
The GAIC represents a paradigm shift: government not just as a regulator of AI, but as an active co-creator and early adopter of frontier technologies.
